Trial information for Fastrack Ruminant Gel - carried out by Conklin Company concluded that 15ml Fastrack given at calving  increased milk production by almost 1kg/day over first 120 days lactation.

Improved health, enhanced milk production…

Dairy cows have to perform at top level, high milk production with a efficient use of feed; low input and high output.  This is only possible, when the dairy cow is healthy and has a great condition and immunity to stay healthy.

At calving and change of rations, problems such as ketosis, milk fever, mastitis, turned abomasums and have a negative influence on the dry matter intake.  The day of she calves is the most challenging day for a lactating dairy cow for her entire year. Supplementing direct-fed microbials assist the cow in responding to the challenges and thereby enhance milk production.

Fastrack® Ruminant Gel stimulates the rumen activity, improves feed intake and the digestion.

Trial Procedure: Holstein cows calving in a five week period were randomly split at calving to either a control (standard management practices) or Fastrack® Gel (control plus orally given 15ml of Fastrack®  Gel the day of calving) research group. Ninety-five cows were assigned to each research group and the cows were housed, fed and managed together. The cows were milked twice daily  and individual milk production recorded.

Results: Daily milk production average was 40,35 kg for the control cows (did not get Fastrack) and 41.30kg for those given Fastrack® Gel. This average was recorded over the first 120 days of lactation.  This showed that  giving 15ml  Fastrack® Gel the day of calving increased (P < 0.05) milk production 2.35%, or 133,40 kg, over the first 120 days of lactation (Figure 1).

Fertility was similar between the research groups.  Conception at first service being 32.63% (non-Fastrack) and 33.68% (Fastrack group).  Pregnancy rates  at 120 days of lactation being 47.1% and 47.9% for the control and Fastrack® Gel research groups, respectively.

Conclusion : Providing 15cc of Fastrack® Gel at freshening to Holstein cows enhanced milk production 113,40 kg over the first 120 days of lactation.
